Lars Kazmeier joined Biotropica Australia in 2006 following extensive tertiary studies in the Wet Tropics. As a student at the University of Friedrich-Alexander and University Erlangen/Nuremberg, Lars completed his Honours degree with a study of Lemuroid Ringtail possums in the highlands around Ravenshoe, following this up with a PhD study of Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo near Malanda.
Lars has significant biological and zoological expertise, and is also a highly skilled GIS (Geographic Information System) technician. Now an Australian resident, Lars is looking forward to continuing his association with local nature conservation groups including the Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group Inc and TREAT inc (Trees for the Evelyn and Atherton Tablelands).

Dan Keane joined Biotropica in August 2007 from a background in managing environment programs in the mining sector. Dan grew up on the Tablelands and completed his BSc (Ecology) at James Cook University Cairns. He is passionate about all things Wet Tropics, particularly tropical restoration and the sustainable management of these unique ecosystems.
He has a growing repertoire of tropical ecosystems knowledge which is now being applied to restoration ecology research projects, land management and environmental management plans. Dan has skills and experience in environmental training, regulatory reporting, carbon accounting, biostatistics, and is active in improving his botanical field knowledge.

Anita Randall joined Biotropica in late August, 2009. Originally from Tully, Anita was educated at James Cook University and Charles Darwin University. Prior to joining Biotropica, Anita worked on the national strategy for the control of Bellyache Bush (
Jatropha gossypiifolia) and has significant experience in tropical weed biology. With a broad range of experience in resource management Anita has already undertaken a range of tasks including research and compilation of information relating to poisonous and dangerous plants of Papua New Guinea, and development of new Biotropica training material.

Mason Campbell joined Biotropica in January 2010. Mason grew up on the Tablelands and was educated at James Cook University and the Australian National University. Mason comes to us with a classical botanical background, having last worked with the Australian Tropical Herbarium and previously maintained a close association with the Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research (Australian National Herbarium).
Mason also has a considerable ecological background having worked in large field studies examining botanical community response/compositions for CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) Sustainable Ecosystems Canberra (over ACT, NSW and VIC) and NCRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) in France. Mason is passionate about all things flora and brings considerable experience in the areas of botany, restoration ecology research, land management and environmental management.

Mandy joined the Administration team at Biotropica in February 2010. Mandy grew up in Brisbane where she studied Education, majoring in Special Education at Griffith University. After travelling Australia for six months, and spending three of those months on the Atherton Tablelands, Mandy decided to move to the Tablelands and has now been here for over three years. Mandy has taught at a number of schools across the Tablelands and is now embarking on a new career with the Administration team at Biotropica.
